You can expect to hear a very Pop- and Electropop-centric set... some Britney, maybe some Kylie, probably lots of new YELLE because I'm obsessed with Safari Disco Club and will be heading to see her live the next day (LiveNation Tickets for Saturday the 30th, YELLE @ Irving Plaza, NYC).
Tell your mom, tell your sister, tell her boyfriend too. It's gonna be a fun night!

DJ Falcon and the Roule crew were fucking AMAZING at Le Poisson Rouge on Saturday night. Some of the DFA records crew was there too, but we walked in around 12 and Falcon had just started his set. This seriously, no joke, was one of the best sets of music I've heard in a long time. Writing this I just got chills. Those Frenchies sure know how to ROCK that SHIT OUT! It had tinges of Daft Punk, but it was totally DJ Falcon putting his own spin on anything from rock to booty bass.
The old school heads like me and my friends scattered across the globe appreciated the beautiful artistry and rawness of Falcon mixing and mashing classics like DJ Funk's old chicago booty house ("shake whatchya Mama gave ya!") with MIA or JT. Or the sheer genius in dusting off Roule's gems from the 90s like Bangalter's Tracks on the Rocks v.1 or Daft Punk's Around the World and putting it with new shit like Diplo or MIA. In one night, my faith in house music and the dance music 'scene' was restored. But man oh man, I feel like a grandpa on the dancefloor sometimes lately!
Here's a vid of that bastard playing "Bucky Done Gun" with "Stardust" AND Hall and motherfucking Oates' "I can't go for that".
Here is "Together" mixing with "So Much Love to Give". And yeah, this is where I cried. I seriously CRIED. I know, I know. I'm a big fag. Sorry it cuts right in the middle of the breakdown/buildup...
OK item 2-
Solex (AKA Elisabeth Esselink) is just wrapping this new whack-a-doodle project of hers that sounds like a quasi Jules Verne cum Pirates of the Caribbean quest, but instead of the high seas, she and her raggamuffin 'crew' will only be sailing around the Netherlands picking up weird musical 'hitchhikers'?!? I love her.
From her website www.solex.net :
An audio-map of the Netherlands This summer I am going to start a new project called Solex Ahoy. With an old motor boat I’ll sail through all twelve Dutch provinces accompanied by musician / captain Bart van Poppel. In every province we’ll pick up a few musicians (one by one) for an improvisation session that will be recorded aboard. Every musician is asked to improvise to a loop which will be heard on his/her headset. At the end of this trip I’ll be able to cut ‘n paste 12 songs out of these jams that will reflect the sound of every one of the 12 Dutch provinces. In that way you can look at it as an audio-map of The Netherlands. I’ve invited a wide range of musicians. A bunch of young but talented girls & boys and a few musicians who’s fame has already stretched to quite a few years.
Kick off is Monday August 18th and we expect to be back in Amsterdam October 1st.

3- Andy Riley from one of my favorite house music teams Inland Knights (and Toka Project) just posted this on Facebook:
After the huge success of Borrowed Volumes 1 & 2, its time for the next installment of cheekiness. You guessed it.... BORROWED Vol 3! TRACK A is already causing a stir, featuring lead vocals by a prominent female artist who shall remain nameless! With an irresistable backing track that simply has to be played out loud. Feedback from DJ’s lucky enough to get a promo of this has been crazy!...a must have for DJ’s who like their soulful vocals and deep grooves. TRACK B takes things a little easier with a wicked laid back house groove and some (well known?) female vocal snips that bring this track together. A great early/late set track for DJ’s who like the more chilled vibes. BORROWED is fast becoming a label to watch. Pressed up on limited runs of 10” vinyl and rumoured to be the brainchild of house veterans Simon Newby (Da Sunlounge) and Andy Riley (Inland knights/Toka project). The Borrowed series has gone from strength to strength, and with this third volume, it shows no signs of letting up!
