The Scandinavian pop princess Annie's much-anticipated, repeatedly-delayed album 'Don't Stop' is FINALLY getting released. Originally Annie was going to release this on Island Records but they had a little tiff, the album leaked on the internet, she dropped them (or did they drop her?), and since last year she was shopping this album around Europe and the States.
Well a tiny whacky label in her neck of the woods called Smalltown Supersound out of Norway picked it up, scratched a few tracks (like all the singles that already pressed - I Know Your GF Hates Me, Anthonio, etc.), and added one new track (I Don't Like Your Band).
I'm sure we can expect all the same bubble gum snot-face juxtaposition we have grown to love from Annie. But in all honesty, I'm kind of frustrated because this only means further delays in releasing her newEST material post-Island, post-Don't Stop. The fact that Don't Stop was such a mess in terms of PR and release/distribution/leaking all over the intrawebz has been shoved under the rug so that someone (probably Annie and the label) can cash in. Yeah, leaking is bad, stealing music is bad... but everyone has done, or is doing it... so let's digest, accept that and move on.
We LOVE that your album is getting released Annie, but WE WANT NEW STUFF!!! And it pains me to say this because I got "Greatest Hit" when it came out on vinyl YEARS before Anniemal was released... but Annie, maybe you need to take a cue from your viking friends Datarock and really look at how successful they have been in terms of PR/press releases/email updates/contests/giveaways/etc. You update your blog regularly on Myspace, but I'd rather hear more about your new projects and less about your cat Joey.
XOXO,
Corocet
