New Goldfrapp "Believer" Tour Video

Hi Guys. Sorry I've been quiet! I started a new job and am finally getting into the groove and things are settling down.

Today started with a glitter bomb in my inbox: there's a new YouTube vid from Goldfrapp's camp via Lisa Gunning (AKA Alison's ladyfriend) that features the band performing "Believer" around the world, along with lots of silly and cute candid moments of the band/Alison.

I hope you like it as much as I do... I think it really captures the band's essence- powerful imagery, glam-sleaze, and a wicked sense of humor.

Announcement RE: Darkroom Tuesdays

Dear Readers:

I write with a heavy heart to let you all know that beginning with tonight's installment, I am no longer directly involved with The Darkroom on Tuesday nights.

Though I will be continuing on as a semi-regular DJ at the Darkroom and all over NYC, neither my blog Blow Up The Water Cooler nor my @Corocet Twitter account will be spearheading the effort in terms of booking talent, promoting, and managing the weekly event.

For what it's worth, Daddy got a pretty wicked (good) day job that (for now) requires travel and energy beyond what I'm able to manage if I were to keep on putting this party out every week. DJ Dooga AKA Adrian is going to continue on as Tuesday night promoter extraordinaire, and I expect some serious parties to result from this switch.

Until we party again you can continue to follow me on Twitter and subscribe here for updates on music, fiction, events, news, UFOs/ETs, fashion, book reviews, and anything else that strikes my fancy.

THIS is why I love Goldfrapp- scary as hell, funny, and feminist. At first it seems simple, but symbols take time to unpack in the mind folks.

Blow Up The Water Cooler first came across House Of Stank a few months ago. I instantly fell in love with their track "Get Up, Yeah!" because it sounded so fresh and so clean like much of the modern stuff that's around now... but what I REALLY loved was how it reminded of me of my old partying days in the Chicago house & rave scene back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Flash forward 6 months to last Thursday when I heard Christy Love & W. Jeremy from House Of Stank DJ for my friends Jason & Chaz ("The Beat" is their monthly. Check it out! :) Suffice to say their set at Fat Baby blew my mind; I booked them that same night LOL

We are UEBER,SUPER-DUPER excited for you to hear the intoxicating HOS sound. I KNOW you will instantly fall in love with their mix of oldschool jack and newschool flavor.

This is one of my favoritest house jams from Blaze that was originally released on my boy Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon's label Classic back in the ravin' days of 1997. Even then it was an instant, well... classic. Now, it's clear this track has held the test of time and will always be considered to be one of the best deep house tracks in all of electronic music production. If you beg to differ I think you need to check yourself.

Goldfrapp to release "Alive" as second 'Head First' single

Just wanted to post this album cover real quick because it's such a creepy, creepy shot of Alison but in true Goldfrapp form, they keep it going with the 80's heavenly dream theme from 'Head First' and "Rocket".

"Alive" will be released on May 24th in the UK on Mute UK, and if you haven't been to Goldfrapp.com lately, you should take a visit because there's a new video/site intro to the tune of "Dreaming". It's a cool aerial city view with puffy cotton candy clouds and.... LAZERS!!!

Pavement Ticket Raffle at the Darkoom this Tuesday!

In a move that oddly juxtaposes indie rock with house music (*my two fav. genres*), I'm going to give one lucky fool a free GEN ADM ticket to a most-coveted show - Pavement's reunion at Rumsey Playfield on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

When you arrive at the Darkroom on 165 Ludlow you will get a number. At 1:00 AM a number will be chosen at random and that person will receive their hard ticket to the show right then and there. How you like 'dem apples?

This is the first glimpse we're getting at Goldfrapp's new FEMALE (RAWRRR) drummer Daisy who is rocking a wicked mo-beau font that would make Sheena Beaston proud.

Speaking of hair, part of the reason why I'm posting is because I just about died when I saw Alison's permed 'do. It's SOOOOOO cute. Seriously. My head just exploded.

4 Tracks that say "Welcome Back Junior Boys!"

I was just thinking yesterday how good the album Last Exit from Junior Boys was, and how I don't think any work after that really lived up to it... But after some serious radio silence Junior Boys come back to us with some VERY JB-ish remixes. I especially enjoy the treatment they give Sally Shapiro's song "Jackie"... a very Miss Kitten-esque track with depressive aloof German-accented chick talking over sultry beats.

The remix for Stars is also great.

This track is the first peek we're getting at Tracy Thorn's new album "Love and Its Opposite" due out in the US on May 18th (Europe/UK May 17th). The track is (appropriately) called "Oh, The Divorces!" It's a waltz-y ballad. Has a more Patrick Wolf-y/orchestral vibe than "Out of the Woods" did.
